Wagaya @ Solaris Dutamas

Returning to Wagaya, Ten's successor at Solaris Dutamas.
Earlier entry on Wagaya: Oct. 25, 2012.

Have a fetish for ox tongue? Wagaya can supply a threesome of ox tongue salad ...

... as well as ox tongue casserole in hot, ultra-creamy sauce ...

... and skewers of smoky-grilled ox tongue, worth licking our lips for.

What about mentaiko? Wagaya offers this marinated pollock roe tossed with savory spaghetti ...

... and with squid and mushrooms on a mentaiko-topped pizza ...

... plus mentaiko-cheese "atsu-age" thick fried tofu, a sinful bar snack.

Sushi-seekers can try the ones capped with sea urchin, nearly 40 ringgit for four pieces ...

... or the eel maki, interestingly topped with thin, crunchy lotus roots ...

... or the pressed sushi covered partly with scallops, partly with seared salmon.

Wagaya isn't much of a dessert venue, so sneak in some cake from, say, Free Mori nearby.

Two types of red wine are offered by the glass; customers can also choose cocktails like this mix of milk and Midori, though potency levels leave much to be desired.

Fruit liquor. Yuzu No Shizuku (try saying that five times fast!).

Sake is expensive here; Wagaya's fatal flaw might be its lack of wallet-friendly sake.

Wagaya,
D5-G3-5, Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur.
Open daily for lunch and dinner.
