Checking out a couple of friendly neighborhood cafes that have opened in recent weeks, starting with Section 17's FoodLover.
Asian favorites from FoodLover's something-for-everyone selection include Malay nasi lemak, Chinese Yung Chow rice & Thai fried tom yam rice, all carb-heavy.
Plenty of plump prawns in the nasi lemak's sambal udang. Worth the RM10.90 cost.
Western staples include spice-sauteed spaghetti with smoked duck breast slices (RM15.90). Fowl fans can also sample aglio olio spaghetti topped with chicken chop.
Cakes are fairly pleasurable & fairly priced here too. Try the banana coffee toffee caramel one ...
... as well as this nutty tiramisu-like creation, both RM5.90 per piece.
Kaffe's cakes are creamy. Choices include the ever-popular Oreo cheesecake ...
... & the now-ubiquitous red velvet cake. Not the best ever, but not bad at all.
Macarons come in fun flavors like yam & lime to complement the regular choc & vanilla ones.
Kaffe takes its beverages seriously, so it's worth sipping the green tea latte ...
... as well as the regular latte, steaming-hot for a rainy night. Kaffe Cafe opens through midnight.
Bonus sweet stop: Driving from Taman Tun to 1 Utama for Wandx Patisserie.
Mini-tarts constitute this mall kiosk's pastry pleasures, with wide varieties for these RM2.90, cream-stuffed, crispy-sheet concoctions.
Our picks include peach, peanut butter & green tea, as well as a savory chicken floss one.
