The number of Italian outlets in KL has nearly doubled in the past two years, but there's always room for another polished establishment like Spasso, a new entry in Ampang.
Smoked duck breast with avocado & hazelnut oil dressing. Can't tell from this photo, but these were the thickest slices of avocado we've ever been offered at any restaurant. The interplay between the unabashedly creamy avocado and the juicy, savory duck was outstanding.
Zucchini rolls with gorgonzola cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, basil & crispy beef bacon. Sometimes, a recipe can be TOO flavorful. There's no denying this is a memorably rich combination _ the absolute opposite of blandness _ but instead of tickling the palate, it walloped our taste buds senseless with overwhelming saltiness.
Australian beef tenderloin, topped with goose liver & black truffles and accompanied by polenta & Sicilian zucchini. A handsome chunk of carnivore bait, succulent enough for us to gleefully sink our teeth into. A noteworthy bargain for RM68++.
Chianti DOCG (Placido, Tuscany). Part Two of Spasso early next week, if all goes well.
