One of the loveliest settings in this part of town, Suka exudes sheer elegance in the evening, when the lights are dimmed and calm melodies play in the background.
The menu is surprising; Suka might look like a Western outlet, but it specializes in Malaysian fare at low prices (many dishes cost barely RM10). This nasi lemak could have been more moist and fragrant, but we liked the flavorsome fried chicken & sweet, fiery sambal.
Claypot loh shi fun. Good stuff; sinfully slurpy, with a satisfying wallop of 'wok hei.'
Char kuey teow. Not bad; had a pleasantly smoky taste, slick texture & sufficient prawns, but it could have used some nice, juicy cockles to complete the ensemble.
Wine isn't sold here, but the corkage charge is a reasonable RM25. This Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Marlborough) from wineactually.com went well with the food.
From June 8 through July 8, 2011, Suka has a Buy 1, Free 1 Bento set promotion, with 50 percent off the price. Details here on the Ilovediscounts site.
