Ben's: Round Two. Earlier entry: February 25.
Ben's House Salad, bursting with edamame, seven seeds, avocado & chef's dressing. Salads seem to be the highlight here; servings are sufficiently substantial for two light eaters to share, but they're so tasty that you'll want the entire bowl for yourself.
Red duck curry. Even better than expected; the curry was rich, creamy and aromatic, featuring a tender chunk of duck leg with lots of bouncy lychees & half a salted egg. Went really well with the steamed sticky rice & mango salad.
Crab linguine puttanesca, with anchovies, capers & chili flakes in tangy tomato sauce. A satisfactory stomach-filler, but not memorable enough to haunt our dreams.
Red velvet cake. Reasonably moist and not too sweet, but we prefer the one at Bangsar Village's Plan B (strange, since Ben's & Plan B are both in the BIG family).
Macadamia cheesecake sundae. The list of desserts here is almost as long as my arm.
Garden Elixir (gin, cucumber, elderflower syrup, rosemary sprig) & Contemporary Fashioned (whisky, honey, bitters, orange peel).
Ben's will roll out more branches at prime spots in KLCC & Solaris Dutamas in the months ahead, so this brand will be a force to reckon with soon.
