Doraku @ Life Centre

Rolling back to Doraku Sushi & Sake Bar, this time for mouthwatering makis.
Earlier entries on Doraku: Oct. 21 & Nov. 11, 2012.

Specialty sushi rolls here include a surf-&-turf one, boasting both shrimp tempura & Wagyu beef for an ocean-meets-farm medley of meatiness, finished with finger-lickin'-good accompaniments of asparagus, eel sauce, scallions & cream cheese.

Baked scallops, salmon, tobiko, seaweed & Kewpie Japanese aioli. Hearty, though the scallops might have been cooked a little longer than necessary.

Fresh flavors for this one, stuffed with crab stick & avocado, topped with tuna, daikon radish, shiso leaves, crispy garlic chips & wasabi citrus sauce.

Unagi & tamago, a tasty duo. Won't win any awards, but will please crowds.

Going out in a blaze of glory: the God of Fire Maki, stinging the tongue with spicy tuna & chilies.

If you like Pina Coladas & NOT getting caught in the rain, take shelter inside Doraku.

Red wine is available, as is Doraku's take on the Margarita, with ginger-infused vodka, sauza tequila, sweet & sour, plus triple sec.

Effen Black Cherry vodka, Bailey's, Kahlua, fresh milk. My kinda beverage.

Cocktails galore, wheee: Ume Margarita (sauza gold, fresh lime, Japanese plum, plum liquor, sugar syrup), alongside a Lychee Martini.

Doraku Sushi & Sake Bar,
Life Center, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.
Open daily for lunch & dinner.
