Desserts @ Marini's on 57 & Thirty8

Returning to KL's two top sky-high restaurants of 2012, this time for a sugar high.
Earlier entries on Marini's on 57 @ Petronas Tower 3: June 26July 2 & Aug. 8.
Earlier entries on Thirty8 @ Grand Hyatt: Aug. 27 & Sept. 30.

First up, Marini's: the tiramisu soaked in Marsala wine is exactly the way some might demand it.

Leave the gun, take Marini's cannoli, the Sicilian ricotta pastry classic served here with fruits.

An alcoholic's affogato, with Amaretto liquor to underpin the ice cream's soft smoothness.

Head to Marini's lounge after those sweet treats at the restaurant & sink into plush sofas here.

Marini's serves pleasurable (though predictably pricey) cocktails. For something smooth with a fabulous fragrance, try the Mary's Melon (RM38++: 42Below Manuka Honey, muddled honeydew melon, De Kuypers melon liquor, rosemary syrup, vanilla liquor).

Hibiscus Daisies (RM40++: Angostura 1824, dry orange curacao, hibiscus cordial, Orgeat syrup, egg white, fresh lemon juice).

Next up, Thirty8, the 360-degree restaurant and lounge at KL's Grand Hyatt.

Double choc ice cream (RM8++), incredibly rich.

Soft-serve vanilla ice cream with banana, coconut and pineapple crumble (RM18++), for something that'll transport us (in spirit) to a tropical beach resort.

Maker's Mark & Chivas Regal 12-years whiskey in lieu of wine, still satisfying.

Bonus dessert stop! El Rincon at Changkat Bukit Bintang.
Main entries on El Rincon: May 2Oct. 29, 2012.

El Rincon's flan de queso, essentially a light but luscious cheese custard.

Rum-flambeed lime sorbet, smoother than expected, beautifully & gently flavored. Plus, pistachios for extra crunch.
