Coconut House @ Jaya One

The Coconut House brand carries a long history, born in Malacca, then branching out to Pudu before closing there, reopening in PJ's 3 Two Square, closing again & resurfacing in Taman Desa as Casa Del Cocco.

But the original owner has broken ties with that final outlet & revived Coconut House this month at a new location, Jaya One, complete with the wood-fire pizza & famously cheap porky fare synonymous with every incarnation of this restaurant.

Coming in at under RM20: Penne with pleasantly coarse pork sausages, parmesan, rosemary, tomatoes & garlic. Tastes homemade (a compliment).

Only RM10: herb-laced pork patty with own-made foccacia. There's a rustic feel to the food here; honest, well-prepared fare, worth checking out.

All the other familiar Coconut House classics remain available at this latest branch, from savories like pork-&-rocket-salad pizza & slow-roasted pork shoulder to sweets like red wine-baked pear & coffee mousse with ice cream.

Bonus stop: Strolling over to The Bee, also at Jaya One, for The Last Polka's current creations.

The latest flavors unveiled: Vanilla bean, alongside brown butter & almond.

Folks attending Urbanscapes, try what The Last Polka concocted for this weekend's festivities: Choc chip cookies sandwiching Gula Melaka ice cream (nibble them while watching Sigur Ros). Also available for now at Artisan RoastSimply Mel's & Fierce Curry House.
