T Forty Two has opened its second outlet, replacing Banquet at Bangsar Village. With classic French melodies like "La Mer" wafting in the background and a look that's reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, this place should prove pretty popular for leisurely lunches.
Traditional French dishes dominate the menu here, which is significantly more ambitious compared to T Forty Two's original branch at Subang's Empire Shopping Gallery.
We were in a fowl mood that evening, so the duck & pistachio terrine was irresistible. Served with cornichons & pear chutney, this rustic-looking pate was pleasantly coarse and firm, offering a satisfying chew. Not too gamy, but not bland either.
The duck theme deepened with this pan-fried liver with red grapes & sweet balsamic glaze. A generous portion, impeccably prepared.
Duck cassoulet. A recipe that rekindled our longing to see more French restaurants bloom in KL. Basically a robust stew of duck leg confit with turkey bacon, sausages & white beans, this hearty plate _ heaving with protein _ should probably be shared by two.
Three flavors of macarons: passion fruit, chocolate & strawberry. Crisp and rich. Not the best in town (that accolade still belongs to Nathalie's and Babycakes), but good enough.
Can't complain about the lemon meringue tart either. Light and tangy.
Wine is available, hurray! Chateau Peyruchet Blanc, an aromatic, straw-colored white.
Chateau Peyruchet Rouge, a supple red.
