Move over, Dua Annexe. G Tower is fast becoming the F&B hub of Jalan Tun Razak.
This niftily designed restaurant's name alludes to its tagline: "The place to be, where friends meet." We thought it might be affiliated with The Social at Bangsar and Changkat Bukit Bintang, but the management insists it has no ties to those outlets.
"1 Pot" roasted pumpkin veloute, with pumpkin seeds, chives & cinnamon cream. Awesomely thick and naturally sweet. We loved the addition of pumpkin seeds _ a simple component that made this texturally more interesting and enjoyable.
Truffle & asparagus risotto with parmagiano & arugula. Kinda watery, but fortunately, the rice remained firm enough to prevent us from calling it porridgey. Sufficiently fragrant and filling to recommend to carb lovers.
Sixteen-hour slow-cooked Wagyu beef cheek with truffle mash & root veggies. Flavorsome, fairly tender meat, but not as mind-blowing as the best beef out there. Still, no point nitpicking about a nice, unpretentious recipe that's well-prepared.
Spinach & ricotta cheese dumplings with truffle cream sauce. Slightly stodgy, but addictively tasty. We only realized at this point that we had truffle-infused ingredients in most of the dishes that we ordered _ a happy coincidence, to be sure.
Vitamina (cachaca 51 rum, orange, honey, passion fruit syrup, sparkling water) & West Indies Yellowbird (bacardi rum, galliano, banana liquor, pineapple, orange).
Miguel Torres, San Medin Sauvignon Blanc (Chile) & Torresella, Merlot, Veneto (Italy).
