Ril's @ The Warehouse

As promised, a look at the non-bovine specialties of Ril's Steakhouse.
Entry on Ril's beef & dessert: September 30. Ril's cocktails: September 29.

Not all stellar steaks come from cows; there's tuna steak here too, prepared medium-rare, with a bloody fresh, boldly luscious flavor to keep steak-seekers from asking, where's the beef?

Creamy sweet potato & corn croquette with quail egg, beetroot compote & lemon creme fraiche. The croquette would be terrific even on its own, thanks to its sweet, pulpy stuffing. But the egg makes it paradise on the tip of your fork.

Seared scallops in sweet, sour & salty preparations _ soy butter, beetroot & lime aioli. Eating them one by one supplies a one-of-a-kind evolution of flavors.

Truffled macaroni & cheese with lobster tails. This hearty, hugely decadent recipe would be lovely for lunch & delectable for dinner. We'd have said "brilliant for breakfast" too, but savoring this in the morning would be too guilty a pleasure.

Chili grapefruit margarita & De Bortoli Noble One Semillion.

Brandy ... or was it cognac? We forget. Excellent stuff nevertheless.
