Crumbs + LuxBite Macarons @ 1 Utama

Christmas' cutest gifts might be edible ones: KL home baker Crumbs & Melbourne patisserie LuxBite have combined forces to offer Yuletide-themed macarons that'll have dessert aficionados going ho-ho-ho.

Crumbs, run by mother-of-three Aleena (who estimates she has baked 27,000-plus macarons), supplies the charm factor: designer chocolate macarons with hazelnut praline, resembling Santa, a snowman & teddy bears. They taste as terrific as regular macarons.

LuxBite, spearheaded Down Under by Malaysian-born Bernard & Yen, furnishes the fun flavors: Peanut Butter & Jelly (sticky-savory), Ribena Lemonade (perky), Watermelon & Guava (fruity) & Mandarin Jaffa (tangy-chocolaty).

Available through Dec. 25 at 1 Utama, sold at a kiosk outside Isetan on the old wing's first floor.

A box of four macarons (two each by Crumbs & LuxBite) costs RM30, with deliveries possible throughout the Klang Valley for a RM20 fee. LuxBite macarons are flown in weekly; ours tasted as fresh as most KL-made macarons we've enjoyed.

Tantalizing tidbit: Crumbs' macarons are completely hand-piped without molds. See www.facebook.com/crumbs.macaron for more info.

Thanks to Aleena for these macarons & helping to make this season sweeter.

Bonus sugar stop: popping into The Bee at Publika for cakes & cocktails.

Grab the last slice of The Last Slice cake maker's rainbow-hued cheer-spreader at The Bee.

Cupcakes haven't faded away: The Bee offers homemade ones by Pinkies. Red velvet, chocolate & vanilla. See www.facebook.com/pinkiescupcakeskl.

The Bee's Paloma (tequila, grapefruit juice, soda, lime) & Kopi Kao Kao coffee-beer combo.
